TACTUS breaks through the limitations of cowhide products, revealing highlight products at Architect’25

TACTUS is a subsidiary of Kongsiri Tannery, a tannery that has been in business in Thailand for over 40 years. TACTUS is a brand that was developed to primarily target designers. Its distinctive features are breaking the limitations of cowhide, such as the minimum order and freely selectable cowhide colors, which can be customized according to the needs of designers. Among the various cowhide sheets of diverse colors at TACTUS Co., Ltd., let’s explore the concept from an interview with Khun Nevika Subpiamlarb, Sales and Marketing Manager, TACTUS Co., Ltd.

Knowing the needs of the target group through the perspective of exhibitor

From Architect’24, the brand received positive feedback from attendees who showed interest in TACTUS’ pieces than ever before. In addition, TACTUS’ products are specifically targeted at particular groups, namely cowhide for decoration and design, and cowhide for furniture. Participating in Architect’24 allows the brand to communicate and receive feedback from target customers, which will help develop new products in the future. In addition to receiving feedback, TACTUS also learned from general visitors’ perspectives on cowhide products, which led to a better understanding of domestic trends. Most of TACTUS’ customers are domestic companies, therefore updating trends or customer needs in the country plays a part in product development. When the brand meets real customers or groups of people interested in leather, it helps expand the domestic market, allowing the brand to see customers’ perspectives and expectations for the products.

Meeting the needs limitlessly

Most tanneries in Thailand focus on made-to-order designs, with a small number of stocks. The production is limited to customer needs, and restricted minimum order. This is different from TACTUS, which can produce customized colors according to needs, such as green, pink, grey, blue, or other colors, and has a low minimum order.

In terms of trends, Kongsiri Tannery, the parent company of TACTUS, sees the importance of taking care of the workplace environment. It also emphasizes the quality of life of tannery workers, while developing products from Thai tanneries to be better known in the country. This is certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG) certification, focusing on the environment, the well-being of tannery workers, and the working environment, which has received LWG certification for more than 6-7 years

TACTUS adds design freedom through leather sheets

“It should make designers have more fun,” said Khun Nevika about the matter that TACTUS has helped develop the leather industry. As mentioned above, TACTUS can manufacture a variety of leather colors according to customer needs. It can be said that TACTUS wants to create a difference in the leather industry with a variety of colors and quality, to the point of personalizing the identity of the designer in the form of cowhide products. Khun Nevika added that from talking to customers, when they learned that the brand can manufacture leather in a variety of colors, coupled with the fact that the main target group is designers, the brand being able to produce cowhide in a variety of colors creates new ideas in design, creating new products.

The “Pirate” collection highlights new products

Developed from recommendations from Architect’24 that wanted cowhide that is easy to maintain and clean. Therefore, it has been developed into a new product collection called ‘Pirate’, which has the outstanding feature of absorbing liquids slower than general leather. It comes in 8 colors. In Thailand, even Thais are not very familiar with using leather. TACTUS would like you to visit, open your mind, and wish everyone to see the cowhide industry in Thailand from a new perspective.
