THEATER HOUSE, a company with over 30 years of expertise in creating home theaters and cinemas, has long been a leader in audio-visual systems. Through decades of solving complex challenges—whether related to lighting, sound, or ventilation systems—THEATER HOUSE has established itself as a premier brand in Thailand.
In this exclusive interview, Khun Peerapol Kasemsut, CEO of THEATER HOUSE Co., Ltd., shares insights into the company’s innovations, expertise, and its newest product launch.
The Role of THEATER HOUSE as a Home Theater Specialist
Khun Peerapol reflected on THEATER HOUSE’s journey and its contribution to the design and construction industry, emphasizing the highly specialized nature of their work.
“Designing a home theater requires both experience and expertise as it involves precise control of lighting, color, and acoustics,” he explained. “For instance, lighting and colors must be carefully calculated to ensure visual accuracy and avoid glare. Even the materials we use must have the right texture to reduce reflection and enhance image clarity, creating a comfortable viewing experience.”
He added, “if we are involved from the early stages of a home’s construction, we can precisely calculate room dimensions and layout to optimize sound travel and placement. Poor room proportions can lead to bass cancellation, which is hard to correct later.”
THEATER HOUSE also stays updated on wall construction trends, ensuring materials are selected to maximize soundproofing while maintaining consistent acoustic frequencies within the theater.
Enhancing Products Through User Feedback
Reflecting on their experience at Architect’24, Khun Peerapol expressed satisfaction with the event and emphasized the importance of listening to customer feedback to improve products.
“Last year, we introduced the Infrasonic Subwoofer, a product unique to THEATER HOUSE in Thailand,” he said. “This device produces low-frequency sounds below human hearing, which are felt rather than heard. Even cinemas don’t use this system, making it a unique feature that distinguishes our home theaters from traditional movie theaters. The response was overwhelmingly positive.”
Additionally, THEATER HOUSE showcased an ALR screen compatible with bright living rooms, allowing ultra-short throw projectors to work effectively without requiring a darkened room. For larger setups, they offer LED Module screens that deliver exceptional visuals even in brightly lit environments.
“Our innovations come from analyzing feedback from past events and refining our products to meet every demand,” he stated.
THEATER HOUSE: A Unique Market Position Without Competitors
When asked about THEATER HOUSE’s market position, Khun Peerapol revealed that over 30 years of its business operation, the company faces little to no competition in the home theater and cinema sector. He further explained that, “THEATER HOUSE has no competitors. If we do, they are mostly small-scale operations that don’t provide comprehensive services. Instead, we often collaborate with these companies as business partners, sharing knowledge and resources.”
“THEATER HOUSE has carved out a unique niche in the Home Theater and Home Cinema market, which is fundamentally different from the business of traditional movie theaters. In the latter, the systems are pre-engineered. Room dimensions, the number of seating rows, and speaker placements are all precisely calculated in advance, and the installation process simply follows these pre-set standards. This makes it relatively straightforward.”
“In contrast, Home Theaters often encounter challenges with rooms that lack proper proportions, resulting in suboptimal acoustics. This requires addressing multiple issues, such as room modes, Sound Transmission Class (STC), sound leakage to undesired areas, as well as external noise penetrating into the space, all of which can diminish the sound quality. These complexities highlight the detailed and intricate nature of designing a Home Theater. Many brands that lack experience and a deep understanding of the field struggle to sustain themselves in this business. This is one of the key reasons why, to this day, THEATER HOUSE remains unrivaled in the market.”
THEATER HOUSE: Adapting to Trends for Better Living
Society today places significant emphasis on eco-friendly living, minimizing exposure to PM 2.5, and adapting to an aging population. These trends have influenced design and product development, prompting the integration of new functionalities and the use of materials that align with these priorities. THEATER HOUSE is committed to using safe and sustainable products that not only meet these societal trends but also enhance the well-being of our users.
“Formaldehyde is a chemical often found in construction materials like plywood, paint, and adhesives. Because home theaters are enclosed spaces, these chemicals can accumulate, posing health risks as there is no ventilation. That’s why THEATER HOUSE always used E0-grade plywood, which is free of harmful chemicals, despite its higher cost.”
“THEATER HOUSE has also implemented positive pressure air circulation systems, similar to those used in hospital operating rooms, to filter PM 2.5 particles and introduce fresh air into the theater. This system ensures a healthier environment compared to traditional air conditioners or air purifiers, which merely recycle existing air.”
“Air conditioners function by recirculating the air within a room to cool it, but they do not introduce fresh air from outside. Similarly, air purifiers can filter and deodorize the air, but they do not bring in new oxygen. In a sealed room, the oxygen level, which typically starts at 21%, gradually decreases over time. When it drops to around 17%, it can cause drowsiness, making it difficult to stay awake through an entire movie.”
“For elderly users, THEATER HOUSE focuses on soundproofing and safety. Home theaters are often installed on the ground floor, where seniors typically reside. THEATER HOUSE prioritizes proper STC soundproofing to prevent disturbance and use rounded, non-sharp furnishings to minimize accidents. Flooring materials like SPC vinyl tiles are also chosen for accessibility and durability.”
“With meticulous attention to detail, THEATER HOUSE incorporated designs that cater specifically to senior users. We select materials with rounded edges to minimize the risk of accidents. For flooring, we use SPC vinyl tiles, which are safe and practical. Additionally, we carefully plan the room’s layout to ensure sufficient space for wheelchair mobility and optimal seating angles. The sofas in our rooms are also designed to accommodate the needs of elderly users. In cases where mobility is restricted or injuries occur, the furniture is ergonomically designed to provide proper support and comfort for their physical condition.”
THEATER HOUSE and the Launch of the Home Theater Knockdown
THEATER HOUSE has unveiled exciting plans for the upcoming Architect’25, highlighting the launch of an innovative new product. While last year’s focus was on products designed for Home Theater use, this year, THEATER HOUSE aims to create a buzz by introducing the groundbreaking Home Theater Knockdown. This cutting-edge solution is tailored for movie and audio enthusiasts, offering an immersive cinematic experience without causing any disruption to the home environment or disturbing neighbors.
“Having spent many years in the home theater industry, the company has encountered a range of solutions, sparking ideas for the development and creation of new products. This year, the company introduced the concept of the ‘Home Theater Knockdown’, recognizing the growing trend of knockdown homes being set up in various locations.”
“Today, knockdown homes are equipped with a variety of amenities, such as air conditioning, electric curtains, bathtubs, and televisions that offer home theater capabilities. However, these setups do not provide the full home theater experience.”
“THEATER HOUSE has expanded on this concept, catering to homeowners who have a space near their house measuring 4×7 meters or larger. The company can create a Home Theater Knockdown with exceptional soundproofing capabilities in just 30 to 45 days.”
“The structure used is lightweight but offers better soundproofing than traditional brick walls. The design includes both acoustic treatments and audio equipment, allowing it to be delivered to customers without the need for foundation piling. This solution is ideal for those who love high-quality visuals and sound but cannot install a home theater inside their house due to spatial constraints or concerns about altering the home’s layout.”
