Chang Consumer, a leading developer of construction and decorative materials with a strong focus on both technology and sustainability, is set to reintroduce Lavamic, a free-form material made from recycled ceramics, at Architect’26 following an enthusiastic response last year. This innovative material is created from the idea of bringing ceramic industry waste back into the production cycle. By selecting discarded sanitary ware, basins, and QC-rejected components, then crushing and re-firing them at high temperatures, the result is a durable, lightweight decorative material featuring a distinctive surface unlike any synthetic alternative.
Pongpuk Kormongkolkul, Sales & Marketing Director at Chang Consumer Co., Ltd., shared that Lavamic elevates decades of ceramic industry expertise into a material that simultaneously meets demands for aesthetics, flexibility, and sustainability. It also opens new design opportunities for projects seeking both visual and technical distinction.
A Material Combining Functionality and Limitless Design Freedom
One of the key attributes that sets Lavamic apart is its ability to be freely shaped without the need for molds, enabling designers to create custom forms with virtually no limitations. From uniquely shaped ventilation blocks and decorative walls to façade panels and large-scale sculptures requiring fluid geometry, Lavamic supports high design freedom. While maintaining strength comparable to concrete, it is 30–40% lighter, reducing structural load and significantly improving installation efficiency.
Beyond its versatile form, Lavamic’s surface can be customized in color, pattern, and texture, making it suitable for projects that require distinctive character—whether public spaces, lightweight materials for renovation works, or historic buildings that demand beauty with narrative value without adding stress to existing structures. Lavamic enables architects and designers to fully realize their creative vision in both aesthetics and practical performance.
Sustainability and Safety Embedded in Every Process
Lavamic is developed under the Circular Design concept, prioritizing the reincorporation of waste materials into new production cycles to reduce environmental impact at every stage—including water usage, energy consumption, and carbon footprint from the construction industry. It not only meets design objectives but also aligns with the growing demand for responsible resource use in modern projects.
The product has been certified with CFP (Carbon Footprint of Product) and CE-CFP (Carbon Footprint of Circular Economy Product), verifying its circular-economy carbon footprint. It has also undergone testing by scientific and sustainability agencies such as the Department of Science Service (DSS) for heat and chemical resistance and TISTR for fire safety. It is currently undergoing further evaluations to meet international standards such as LEED and WELL Building Standard for future green building applications.
Lavamic also offers several performance advantages: non-combustible, VOC-free, and possessing a structure that reduces moisture accumulation—making it ideal for health-focused spaces such as residential projects, hotels, and public facilities that require superior air quality and safety.
Where Technology Meets Craftsmanship
Chang Consumer incorporates AI technology to simulate surfaces, shapes, and prototypes in diverse possibilities. This helps reduce design time and ensures the final material closely matches the client’s vision. Skilled craftsmen then refine, detail, and conduct quality checks at every stage. The integration of digital precision with handcrafted artistry results in a material that is both technically robust and artistically expressive.
Under the concept “We make what you think”, Lavamic empowers designers to explore ideas beyond conventional limits—whether fluid forms, emotionally expressive textures, highly precise structures, or decorative elements that shape spatial ambience. With its combination of flexibility, strength, and material uniqueness, Lavamic transforms imagination into tangible creation. Chang Consumer believes that “If you can think it, we can make it real”—and Lavamic perfectly embodies this philosophy.
Experience the Endless Possibilities of Lavamic at Architect’26
At Architect’26, Chang Consumer will present Lavamic through a newly designed booth that tells the story of the material with real works in various scales—from decorative walls and sculptures to free-form pieces emphasizing fluid lines. Visitors will experience firsthand the potential of this recycled material and the concept “We make what you think.” The showcase aims to redefine perceptions of lightweight, freely moldable materials and demonstrate their versatility in contemporary architecture—from small-scale detailed pieces to large spatial design elements requiring strong visual identity.
Meet Lavamic at Booth F405 at Architect’26—the largest architectural technology and building materials exhibition in ASEAN—held from April 28 to May 3, 2026, 10:00–20:00 hrs., at Challenger Halls 1–3, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.
