UNICOM Presents Flooring Materials from Rectango and Toli — Answering Renovation Needs and an Ageing Society, at Architect ’26

UNICOM Import–Export Co., Ltd. is an importer of flooring and interior decorative materials that works closely and continuously with architects and designers — curating materials from international manufacturers in Japan, South Korea, China, and Europe, and adapting them for design and construction use in Thailand. The company’s two main brands are Rectango — a vinyl flooring line developed in-house — and Toli, a long-established flooring brand from Japan.

Ms. Thayaporn Detpratum, Managing Director of UNICOM Import–Export Co., Ltd., explains that the Architect exhibition is a distinctly important platform — one whose visitors are primarily professionals in design and construction, making it fundamentally different from a general trade fair. UNICOM has chosen to return to Architect ’26 — its first participation since before COVID — viewing it as a vital stage to meet designers directly and present new materials and technologies from international partners, including the latest innovations from Japanese collaborators and new concepts suited to the needs of today’s society.

A Platform That Connects Directly with Architects

For UNICOM, the Architect exhibition stands apart from typical commercial fairs. In recent years, the company has preferred participation in architecture-related activities — seminars, professional association events, and university collaborations — over general commercial exhibitions, reflecting a brand direction that seeks to work closely with designers and develop materials that genuinely answer real project needs. Returning to Architect this year is therefore a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with established architect partners and meet the next generation of designers just beginning their practices or opening their own studios.

Developing Flooring Materials That Answer Design Needs

One of the company’s core product lines is Rectango — a vinyl flooring range developed specifically to address the needs of architects working in Thailand. The team studies colour trends, materials, and surface patterns to curate and develop shades and designs suited to each design era, including visits to manufacturer facilities in countries such as South Korea to select materials and develop collections directly with producers. During product development, colours are adjusted and new collections added in response to market demand — including patterns inspired by polished concrete, one of the most popular surfaces across a wide range of architectural project types.

Japanese Material Technology and the Ageing Society Concept

Another key product group is flooring from Toli of Japan — a brand with over 100 years of experience in the flooring industry. One of the concepts UNICOM places strong emphasis on is developing materials that address Ageing Society needs — an increasingly critical issue in many countries, including Thailand. Certain flooring types are designed to absorb impact upon a fall, helping reduce the severity of injury compared with conventional hard flooring. There are also products for bathroom spaces that can be installed directly over existing floor tiles without demolition — reducing renovation time and minimising construction disruption, particularly in homes where elderly residents are present.

Materials That Answer Today’s Renovation Demands

As the economy slows, consumer behaviour is shifting from building new to renovating and improving existing spaces. Vinyl flooring has consequently become an increasingly attractive option — offering fast installation and, in many cases, the ability to be laid over existing floors, reducing construction time and minimising disruption to ongoing use of the space. UNICOM’s client base spans residential homes, hotels, and hospitals — all of which require materials that install quickly and perform reliably over the long term.

Experience UNICOM’s Flooring Innovations at Architect ’26

Inside the UNICOM booth, visitors can explore flooring from Rectango and Toli — covering vinyl flooring for interior applications as well as materials designed specifically for elderly users. Visitors are welcome to handle real materials, test surfaces, and understand product properties — gaining a direct appreciation of the material innovations developed for actual architectural project use. The team is also on hand to exchange information and perspectives with architects and designers, exploring the best approaches to material selection for future design work.

As a special invitation to all designers: experience masterpiece-level craftsmanship — unleash your imagination with vinyl flooring and wallpaper in your own style — through an exclusive workshop, “Try It by Hand, Feel It with Heart”, held inside the booth.
