WDC Brings a Full Line-up of Material Innovations for Quality of Life at Architect ’26

Western Decor Corporation Public Company Limited, or WDC, is a developer and distributor of tiles and architectural surface materials with a strong focus on design, technology, and material innovation.

Mr. Boonprasert Sirirojrattana, Marketing & Branding Assistant Manager, shared that participating in Architect Expo each year is a key opportunity to reflect real market direction. Beyond being a platform for launching new products, it also serves as a “validation stage” to assess how well the brand’s year-long research and trend forecasting meet user needs.

WDC has consistently invested in research by reinvesting part of its profits into market studies—covering design, tile sizes, surface technology, and consumer behavior—to better anticipate future industry directions. Architect Expo thus plays an important role in confirming whether newly launched products truly meet the needs of architects, designers, and homeowners.

Evolving Preferences in Material Design

From observing user behavior over the years, WDC has found that Thai consumers are becoming more knowledgeable about materials—an insight that continuously informs the development of new collections.

In the past, luxury was often associated with bold, colorful marble-pattern tiles. Today, however, users are increasingly drawn to materials with natural textures and structured surfaces. Large-format tiles that can be cut and adapted for diverse architectural elements are also gaining popularity.

Another notable shift is the shorter adoption cycle of global trends in Thailand. While it once took years for European trends to reach the Thai market, consumers today are more open and quicker to embrace new ideas.

These trends guide WDC’s product development across patterns, sizes, and surface technologies to better meet contemporary design and lifestyle needs.

From Tile Surfaces to Enhanced Living Experiences

For WDC, “innovation” is at the core of product development—a commitment that has earned the brand multiple Best Innovation Awards at Architect Expo over the years.

One key focus is designing tile surfaces that support wellness and improve everyday quality of life.

Traditionally, slip-resistant tiles required rough surfaces, which, while safe, could be uncomfortable and difficult to maintain. WDC has worked to create a balance between safety and comfort by developing surfaces that remain slip-resistant while offering a softer touch, being skin-friendly, and easier to clean—enhancing both safety and convenience in daily use.

Beyond functionality, tile patterns also influence emotional well-being. Natural tones and textures can create psychological comfort, transforming homes into relaxing environments for residents of all ages.

Additionally, tiles have become an effective alternative to natural stone—a limited resource—thanks to advanced manufacturing technologies that closely replicate natural textures and patterns in both design and performance.

Gravity Collection: A Contender for Best Innovation Award 2026

This year, WDC presents its Gravity Collection as a contender for the Best Innovation Award 2026 at Architect Expo 2026.

The collection features HARDITEC Technology, highlighted by Ultra Scratch Resistant surfaces with a hardness level of 9 on the Mohs Hardness Scale—close to that of diamonds. This makes the tiles highly resistant to scratches and suitable for high-traffic or heavy-use areas.

Beyond durability, the innovation reflects sustainability by extending product lifespan, reducing the need for replacements or repairs, and minimizing construction waste over time—aligning with the industry’s focus on both performance and environmental impact.

Pet-Friendly Tiles: Designed for Homes with Pets

Another innovation from WDC is its pet-friendly tiles developed under UNITEC Technology, tailored for households with dogs.

A common issue in such homes is overly slippery flooring, which can lead to balance problems—especially in small dog breeds—potentially causing health issues like patellar luxation or joint disorders.

UNITEC Technology addresses this by balancing safety and comfort. The tile surface reduces slipping while remaining gentle on pets’ paws, avoiding irritation.

It is also easy to clean, making it ideal for shared living spaces with pets. This innovation has been certified by veterinary professionals and is already in use in veterinary clinics to help reduce health risks associated with slippery surfaces.

Special Highlight: From Milan Cathedral to a New Tile Collection

One of the key highlights this year is the MILANO SUBLIME collection, inspired by the stone patterns found in the Duomo di Milano in Italy—one of the world’s most iconic historical architectures.

The uniqueness lies in the fact that this stone is exclusively used for the cathedral, requiring official authorization to replicate its patterns. WDC collaborated with a town distributor in Italy to meticulously scan the original stone surfaces and develop porcelain tiles that closely replicate their appearance.

This multi-year process marks a significant milestone in bringing global architectural heritage into contemporary design applications. Part of the proceeds from this collection will also support the foundation responsible for preserving the Duomo di Milano.

Experience WDC at Architect’26

At Architect Expo 2026, WDC will present an immersive booth experience that reflects its brand philosophy, incorporating architectural curves as a key design language.

Building on last year’s concept, which highlighted the versatility of large-format tiles, this year’s design explores convex and concave forms, creating a dynamic spatial experience.

Visitors can explore products while experiencing the materials in a thoughtfully designed environment, discovering new collections developed with a focus on innovation, safety, and quality of life—core values that WDC continues to uphold.

Join WDC at Booth S103 at Architect’26 the 38th THE ASEAN’S LARGEST BUILDING TECHNOLOGY EXPOSITION taking place from April 28 – May 3, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM at IMPACT Challenger Hall 1–3, Muang Thong Thani.
