At exhibitions, many pavilions are built to serve their purpose for only a few days before being dismantled once the event comes to an end.
For Specspace, however, creating a space is not simply about providing a place for people to visit. It is about expressing the identity and thinking of a brand through design. And once a space has been created, it should have the opportunity to live on and be used again.
This is the idea behind Air-Chitecture, a 72-square-metre pavilion first unveiled at Architect’26, where it received a Silver Award from the ASA Green Pavilion Awards, before being adapted for use in a new context.
With “air” as its primary element, Air-Chitecture is more than a structure for exhibition. It is designed as a place to relax, a space for activities, and an environment that invites people to experience Specspace’s approach to design.
Peck – Premmanat Suwannanon, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Spec space Co., Ltd., shares the story behind Air-Chitecture—from the initial idea that began with the word “Space” to a more important question: once a pavilion has been built, how can it continue its journey beyond a single event?
From Entertainment Host to “Friend of Architect”
Specspace’s journey into Architect’ did not begin as a brand from the architecture industry. It grew from Peck’s own career path, which began in the entertainment industry before leading him into the world of homes and design. Along the way, he gradually became acquainted with more people in the architecture community.
Being positioned between these two worlds allowed Peck to see something that can easily be overlooked: Architect’ should not be a space where only architects move through. It should be a place where people from different industries can come together.
With this perspective, Specspace began blending the fun and playful elements of the entertainment world with the creativity of designers, creating spaces that offer more than something to look at—they offer experiences that invite people to participate.
This approach eventually became what Peck calls “Specspace Architecture.”
What he wants people to take away from the space is actually quite simple: “Fun, smiles, and substance.”
Behind the playful experience is a deliberate intention to create something beyond expectations, while showing people outside the architecture profession how a designer’s way of thinking can open up countless new possibilities.
This is why Specspace chose “space” as one of the ways to communicate its brand identity. Architect’ has become an important platform where this idea can meet real people and come to life through physical experience.
When “Space” Becomes Air, and Air Becomes Architecture
The starting point for Air-Chitecture came from a straightforward interpretation of the name Specspace.
“Space” is an empty volume. And when we think about what exists within that space, there is one thing we are constantly surrounded by yet almost never see: air.
The question was then passed on to the design team: How can we control air and turn it into a usable space?
The answer came in the form of an inflatable structure—a concept Specspace had experimented with before. That existing knowledge was developed further into a new format for Air-Chitecture, with Looklen Architects helping transform the idea of “air” into an actual physical space.
And because Specspace does not have a conventional product in the same way that a materials brand or supplier does, the pavilion itself became a medium for communicating the brand’s identity—its creativity, sense of fun, and belief in new possibilities in design.
One particularly interesting detail is the use of concrete imagery printed onto the surface of the inflatable structure, rather than using actual concrete. A material associated with weight and solidity is therefore represented on a lightweight structure that can be folded, packed, and transported to its next destination.
Air-Chitecture is therefore not simply about turning “air” into a structure. It is also an exploration of the ways in which we have become accustomed to creating spaces—and a question of whether those methods can be reimagined.
A Pavilion for Rest, Filled with Inspiration
Peck sees Air-Chitecture as a “rest pavilion.” But rest here does not simply mean sitting down. It is a moment when the body pauses and the mind becomes open enough to receive something new.
As people spend time within the space, the pavilion itself, the activities, and the conversations that take place inside gradually become experiences and memories that they can carry with them when they leave.
For this reason, the inspiration behind Air-Chitecture lies not only in its structure, but also in the activities that take place within it.
The pavilion becomes a meeting point for people from different backgrounds to connect, exchange interests, and form a community—or, as Peck calls it, a “Tribe”: a group of people who share something in common and are ready to move in the same direction.
Once the pavilion is complete, what Peck sees is more than a finished piece of design. It is a way of passing inspiration forward—from the designer’s way of thinking to the people who experience the space, who may then take those ideas and apply them to their own work or products in entirely different ways.
Ultimately, Air-Chitecture is not simply about creating a space for people to occupy. It is about creating an experience that allows people to pause, connect, think, and leave with something new.
Air-Chitecture Was Never Designed to Stay in One Place
After receiving the Silver Award from the ASA Green Pavilion Awards at Architect’26, Air-Chitecture was not put into storage. Instead, it was brought back to life at The Secret Sauce Summit 2026, where its tone and details were adapted to suit a new context under the concept of Sunrise—representing a new day and a turning point for a new generation of Builders.
For Peck, this is an important demonstration of how sustainability can work in practice. A pavilion does not have to be designed for a single-use purpose. It can adapt to different contexts and take on new functions without requiring everything to be built from scratch.
This takes Air-Chitecture beyond the idea of a single pavilion. Peck sees the structure continuing its journey to other destinations—from public spaces such as city halls or Sanam Luang to music festivals, where the space and experience can be interpreted in completely new ways.
This perspective also raises a question for brands and suppliers designing exhibition spaces today. The question may not only be, “What can we build that people will remember at this event?” but also, “Where can what we build go next?”
When reuse becomes part of the brief from the very beginning, sustainability becomes more than simply reducing waste. It creates room for new ways of thinking—and for a new kind of competition in design.
Peck believes this shift could help drive both Architect’ and Thailand’s design industry toward the next level.

Air-Chitecture demonstrates that Architect’ is more than a platform for displaying materials and products. It is a space where people in the design industry can meet, exchange ideas, and discover new possibilities that can potentially be taken forward into real-world applications.
