Exploring KEMREX Foundation and Structural Solutions: Highlights at Architect’27

Piles are essential structural elements hidden beneath the ground, yet the choice of foundation system from the outset can affect installation procedures, construction timelines, and site limitations. KEMREX, or Khem Lek Co., Ltd., has developed helical steel piles installed through a screw-in method rather than conventional pile driving, offering an alternative foundation solution with a wide range of applications that can also be extended to other structural systems.

Over its 15 years in business, KEMREX has regarded Architect Expo as an important platform for increasing brand awareness and connecting directly with end users. These include architects, engineers, contractors, project owners, and homeowners seeking alternative construction solutions. In this interview, Nidchanun Asokechaiyaphan, Marketing Manager of KEMREX CO., LTD., shares insights into the company’s solution development, experiences gained through direct customer engagement, and what KEMREX is preparing to present at Architect’27.

From Reliable Foundations to Versatile Applications

KEMREX develops helical steel piles for foundations used in houses, buildings, and extension projects. Instead of driving piles into the ground using conventional impact methods, the system installs them by rotating and pressing them into the soil. This installation method helps minimize vibration and reduces the need for excavation, making it an alternative for projects with limited space or those where minimizing the impact on surrounding areas is a priority.

The difference between the two installation methods can be illustrated by comparing the characteristics of conventional concrete piles and helical steel piles.

“When comparing the two, concrete piles are like nails, while steel piles are like screws. During installation, we don’t use impact force to drive them into the ground. Instead, we apply downward pressure while rotating them, much like tightening a screw or bolt. This creates no vibration.”

Installation time is another notable advantage. For example, one project involving six piles installed to a depth of approximately 22 meters was completed within one day. Actual installation time, however, depends on site conditions, project characteristics, and specific installation requirements.

Building on its expertise in foundation systems, KEMREX has also expanded its applications into other structural solutions, including:

Tree Support Systems: Helical steel piles are used as foundations for supporting structures, with designs tailored to specific problems and practical requirements.

Solar Panel Support Structures: Solutions designed to support solar panel installations in Solar Farm and Solar Carport projects.

These applications demonstrate that helical steel piles are not limited to building foundations. They can also be adapted to support structures serving different purposes, provided that the suitability of each application is carefully evaluated according to project requirements.

Architect Expo: A Starting Point for Connections and New Opportunities

For KEMREX, Architect Expo is more than an exhibition space for showcasing products. It is an opportunity to connect with target audiences and gain a direct understanding of end-user needs, bringing together professionals from across the architecture and construction industries.

“Many general customers first discover KEMREX through Architect Expo. That’s why we participate every year.”

The brand’s focus goes beyond displaying its products. It also aims to create an environment where visitors can ask questions and speak directly with the team. The booth therefore includes a dedicated meeting area for project consultations, whether visitors already have construction plans or are just beginning to explore their options and want to understand foundation systems before making a decision.

Visitors range from architects, engineers, and contractors to project owners and homeowners, each with different requirements. Designers may want to understand how the products can be integrated into specific project designs, while contractors may be more interested in installation procedures. Homeowners, meanwhile, may simply want to know whether the system is suitable for their home extensions or construction projects.

Direct conversations allow the team to provide information tailored to each visitor’s needs. They also give visitors the opportunity to consult directly with the service provider rather than relying solely on printed materials or online information.

Some of these discussions continue beyond the exhibition, leading to further consultations on product selection, technical specifications, and installation approaches. At the same time, feedback from users provides valuable insights into challenges encountered on actual construction sites. These insights help KEMREX improve its products, installation methods, and supporting information to better meet practical requirements.

The value of Architect Expo therefore extends beyond brand awareness. It provides an opportunity to connect with people directly involved in decision-making, understand real user requirements, and build relationships that may develop into future business collaborations.

Practical Innovation and More Efficient Resource Utilization

Adopting new materials or technologies does not necessarily mean they are suitable for every project. The key is to evaluate site constraints, structural requirements, and working conditions to identify the most appropriate solution.

KEMREX’s development approach therefore places emphasis on addressing real-world challenges and providing information that supports informed decision-making. Rather than simply introducing new technology, the company aims to ensure that users understand how its products can be applied, along with their limitations. Customer feedback and direct discussions consequently play an important role in improving products, installation methods, and technical information.

Another interesting aspect is the possibility of removing helical steel piles and reusing them in certain projects, particularly temporary installations or developments on leased land where the site may need to be returned to its original condition in the future. However, any potential reuse must first be assessed through material condition inspections and suitability evaluations.

One example involved steel piles that had been in service for approximately 10 years. Following removal, an inspection found that the galvanized coating remained in good condition. Nevertheless, material conditions after use can vary depending on environmental exposure and individual project circumstances. Inspection after removal is therefore essential before considering reuse.

Choosing a piling system should not be based solely on initial costs and installation procedures. It can also involve considering service life and opportunities to maximize the efficient use of resources over time.

Architect’27 Highlights: Discovering New Applications

At Architect’27, KEMREX is preparing to showcase products and solutions that demonstrate the versatility of helical steel piles across a variety of applications. These range from foundation systems and solar panel support structures to tree support systems. The aim is to help visitors understand how the products work and identify the types of projects for which each solution may be suitable.

Another highlight will be the concept of a “Tree Hospital,” which KEMREX plans to introduce at its booth. The concept is intended to encourage visitors to learn more about this initiative and discover its connection with helical steel pile technology.

“Today, we have hospitals for people and animals. Now, we also have a hospital for trees. Many people may wonder what this has to do with steel piles. We’d like to invite everyone to come and find out at the exhibition.”

In addition to exploring the products, visitors can consult directly with the KEMREX team about potential applications for their own projects. Whether they are planning a home extension, considering foundation options, or looking for structural solutions for specialized applications, discussing initial project information at an early stage can help them explore different possibilities before moving into implementation.

For KEMREX, participating in this year’s exhibition is also an opportunity to connect with customers and partners, while exchanging information with industry professionals from the early design stages. This allows product selection and application considerations to begin at the very outset of a project.

Meet KEMREX at Architect’27

Architects, engineers, contractors, project owners, and homeowners planning construction projects are invited to meet the KEMREX team, exchange ideas, and explore solutions suited to their specific requirements, even if they are still in the early planning stages.
