When talking about tools for Asians, the name MAKITA must definitely be among the brands. With designs created to suit the Asian physique, MAKITA, a brand of hand tools from Japan, has won the hearts of users for over 109 years, from its founding to the present. In Thailand, it has been 55 years since its first import. In addition to hand tools, MAKITA has also expanded its product line to cover needs such as garden and cleaning tools. In 2023, the brand launched camping tools. At Architect’24, MAKITA is ready to take everyone to discover its identity through an interview with Khun Akaphol Sahavuthivongsa, Marketing Manager, Thai Seng International (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
Experience from the Architect Expo, promoting success
Khun Akaphol discussed about the experience gained from the Architect Expo that can be further expand product development.
“Every time MAKITA exhibits its products at the Architect Expo, it is not only a platform to launch the brand’s new products. Exchanging ideas from visitors is an extension of marketing in Thailand, which is very beneficial for the MAKITA brand.” Because listening to the opinions of users helps in marketing and developing products to meet the needs of the target customer. The brand expects that this year will receive as good a response as ever.
MAKITA offers variety, answering the needs of all user groups
When talking about the brand’s target customer, as the products under the MAKITA brand are in many categories, including cleaning tools for both indoor and outdoor, camping tools as well as garden tools. There are 3 categories of tools:
- 12V model: suitable for work that requires flexibility and being lightweight
- 18V model: professional user model for those who use tools regularly and require durability
- 40V model: latest model, an option for the Expert User group to meet the most demanding needs
One System Endless Solution Concept of Architect’24
MAKITA’s main concept for this year’s event is One System Endless Solution, inspired by batteries for MAKITA products, which can be used with all MAKITA tools. The batteries work as a single system covering the entire operation, both indoor and outdoor use, and it is a technology that can answer all types of usage needs. Certainly, the One System Endless Solution concept is also related to the design of the MAKITA booth that represents a systematic connection. With the battery as the heart, before connecting to various tools under the brand, including hand tools, garden tools, camping equipment and cleaning equipment, resembling a spider’s web, which are all connected. There is also an area for testing MAKITA products inside the booth.
Batteries for sustainability
MAKITA joins the Geneva Convention on Zero Emission, causing MAKITA to stop manufacturing all products that use engines in operation and choose batteries as an energy source instead, as well as extending such practice to packaging to reduce plastic use.
“When customers decide to use MAKITA products, they must be able to use in a variety of ways, covering the needs of customer groups as much as possible. The brand has therefore launched a variety of products to respond to lifestyles, which are compatible with the same battery,” Khun Akaphol told us. Just MAKITA’s 18V battery can be used with more than 325 types of brand products to provide convenience for users and simultaneously protect the environment.
Robotic mower to be make its debut at Architect’24
As for the highlights that MAKITA is ready to launch at this event, there are more than 10 models, but the one that is especially worth keeping an eye on is: robotic mower. This smart garden tool is not only used for mowing, it can also automatically return to the charging dock through programming commands from the application, which has been developed specifically for this gardening robot.
From the above article, we get an understanding why MAKITA has been with Thai people for more than 55 years. However, the most important thing is after-sales service that the brand gives top priority, with more than 170 repair service centers throughout Thailand. In 2024, MAKITA aims to spread service centers to cover more than before, providing convenience to customers across the country. This is an important factor that makes MAKITA win the hearts of Thai people. In 2024, MAKITA has extended the warranty period from 1 year to 3 years for the new 40V hand tools group and 2 years for other general products. This is considered an important change in the past 40 years, as a thank you from the brand for the user group.
