Let’s find out why the two brands of decorative surface materials are so popular and how they differ in identities. “EDL is a brand that has been in the laminate business for 10 years, while PANAPLAST has entered its third year. EDL and PANAPLAST have similar identities, but the latter focuses on classic, long-lasting designs, which would still be popular for years to come and are mostly imported from Japan.”

     “The products of both brands enter the laminate business with the aim of presenting the design, quality, and good production sources to elevate Thailand’s design industry. The brand’s products are selected from quality manufacturers in producing laminates from several countries all over the world, including Italy, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Austria and Portugal. The brand selects unique laminates of each country and import them to cover the needs of consumers.”

     From the conversation with Khun Patpimon, it was immediately clear that the factor which partly drive the brand’s rapid and continuous growth is constant development. “EDL has been in the market for 10 years now, but the brand has changed its product lineup 13 times. It can be seen that the brand is constantly updating and developing designs. When a new catalogue comes out, the brand will immediately collect data for the next volume in order to update trends to meet the needs of designers.”

     “Growth right now is in a good direction because EDL has good standards, making PANAPLAST products popular as well. In addition, we emphasize the uniqueness of brands imported from Japan and the hardworking sales department has made PANAPLAST successful in terms of growth. As for EDL, even after 10 years, it is still considered to be growing, although not in the same leaps and bounds as its counterpart. It can still maintain a strong customer base.”

 

Good manufacturer standards...affect sustainable product quality

As an importer of products from abroad, selecting good production sources to get quality products is extremely important. EDL and PANAPLAST do not neglect this part. In addition to paying attention to the quality, we also care about the environment.

     “The brand has another selling point: it focuses on service. Therefore, the sales department must have the same concept, that is, the customer comes first. The brand not only concerns itself with fulfilling the needs of customers, but also focuses on service that exceeds expectations. For instance, if customer requests laminate today, what they expects is that the design will be sent the next day. With the services of the brand and sales department, the designs may be delivered to customers within today.”

     “In addition, the brand has a strong back-end system due to the organization of the system to support the sales department in every aspect to satisfy the needs of customers. The brand tries to instill this into their work culture as it realizes their products are relatively high-priced. Competing with other brands therefore focuses on the service standpoint. Moreover, the brand does not set conditions with customers. Even a single laminate sheet can be delivered. If there is an issue, whether regarding installation or issues with laminate sheets, the brand has steps in place by sending its sales department to resolve the situation and provide advice to customers.”

EDL and PANAPLAST ready to launch decorative surface at Architect’24

     At the upcoming Architect’24, it is considered a hub for those who want to awaken ideas in architecture and those who are interested in technology and building materials. At this point, there is an exchange of exclusive highlights to be presented at this year’s Architect Expo.

     “This year, new products are to be launched by both brands. The new products will be imported from Portugal and Japan. EDL and PANAPLAST are the first in the market to import laminate with this type of surface, as well as a different production process, which will answer the design requirements well.”

     “In terms of design, there will be solid color, wood, and stone patterns that are currently popular. This year, the brand wishes to surprise customers, which is usually successful every year. From collecting data and customer opinions, every year there will be more than 1,000 contacts requesting product information from the brand’s sales department.”

     “In addition to decorative surface, to accommodate designers’ work, we have imported furniture handles, door stoppers and wall hooks, in new styles that emphasize modern design and functionality under the brand VIEFE, from Spain.
